From a young age, Shanyse saw hair as more than just styling, it was a way to connect, uplift, and help people feel like their best selves. After years of perfecting her craft and mentoring other stylists, she opened Phenom Muse Salon with a vision: to create a space where clients could experience transformative care while new stylists could grow into confident professionals.
Her journey from stylist to salon owner has been fueled by authenticity, education, and a love for building community, values that shape everything we do.

Shanyse Kee Waugh is a transformation leader, educator, and entrepreneur whose journey reflects the power of resilience, reinvention, and purpose-driven success. Once facing significant challenges, including being placed on probation from the fourth grade through her junior year of high school to becoming a mother at the tender age of 17, Shanyse defied the limitations of her circumstances to build a thriving career in the beauty industry. Despite finding herself in trouble she always had a love for all things hair. Starting off braiding at just 8 years old and creating her first brand "Infamous Braids" servicing her church family and friends from school at 12, she began building her clientele.
Having a daughter Her senior year of high school was considered a prescription for failure however Shanyse chose to further pursue her dreams and enroll into beauty school right after high school in 2009. Experiencing several roadblocks connecting to parenthood she unfortunately dropped out shortly after and didn't return back until 2011, successfully graduating and committing to being a full time stylist. In just 7 short years she launched her first haircare product "flourish' now known as Classic follicle stimulating oil and opening her first salon shortly after. Her story stands as a powerful example of how determination, vision, and faith can turn obstacles into opportunities for growth.
As the founder of Phenom Muse Salon and Muse Society Haircare, Shanyse has created a brand that goes far beyond beauty. Her salon serves as a sanctuary for healthy hair care, self-expression, and personal growth, while her product line reflects her commitment to intentional, ingredient-conscious solutions that empower clients to achieve long-term hair health. In addition, her signature apprentice program bridges the gap between cosmetology school and professional mastery, guiding new stylists to develop their skills, confidence, and clientele with excellence.
A licensed cosmetology educator and mentor, Shanyse is equally passionate about inspiring others to embrace their full potential. Through her workshops, community events, and forthcoming podcast, The Unmuted Muse, she provides education, empowerment, and a space for authentic dialogue about beauty, self-care, and personal evolution. Her work continues to inspire the next generations to rise above their circumstances, own their narratives, and create lives filled with purpose, passion, and possibility.
